7 Vintage & Retro places to stay
Want to get away on a holiday? Want to stay somewhere with a great (or unique) interior? What about staying in an Airstream trailer park in France…?
Today I’ve got 7 great places to share with you, including three in Australia.
1. THE WHITE HOUSE, DAYLESFORD, AUSTRALIA
This 1850s brick miners cottage has been transformed into a dreamy, detail-attuned retreat by Lyn Gardener, a Melbourne based interior designer. Lyn has mixed vintage and rustic with quirky industrial pieces to create this beautiful place to stay in Daylesford.
Prices for this boutique accommodation start at around $400 a night for a couple, but there’s a breakdown of nights, rooms and number of people that helps cut the cost. More information can be found here.

2. ATLANTIC – AMERICAN AIRSTREAM, BYRON BAY, AUSTRALIA
Atlantic have taken ‘glamping’ to another level offering guests a unique experience and the opportunity to stay in their American Airsteam Trailer in Byron Bay. This iconic caravan has been designed to maintain its retro beauty yet offer all the luxuries needed for the perfect getaway including double bed, private bathroom and air-conditioning.
Prices start at around $150, rent it at Atlantic Byron Bay.

3. VINTAGE HOUSE, DAYLESFORD, AUSTRALIA
This luxury accommodation is situated on the border of Daylesford and Hepburn Springs and is home to many vintage treasures including an old post office table from England made in the 1700s, a 1920s gas Chambers oven from the US and old church doors which were restored to house the fridge.
While children are not allowed at The White House (above) they are welcome here. Prices start at around $600 per night however the house sleeps four adults (or six if you book The Studio too). It was hard to only select a few photos of this beautiful place. I suggest checking more out here.

4. RETROME, BARCELONA, SPAIN
Retrome provide vintage designed hotels and accommodation in both Rome and Barcelona. The images I’ve chosen to show are of the private boutique rooms at Retrome in Barcelona. Each room is different and designed with a great retro theme, original artwork and eye catching furniture.
Prices start from around $100 per night. More images and to check out Retrome in Rome also click here.

5. OHTEL, WELLINGTON, NEW ZEALAND
In the heart of Wellington is this unique 10-room, 4.5 star, boutique hotel. From chairs to ceramics, tables and clocks, the owner and designer Alan Blundell, has filled the rooms with mid-century modern furnishings and treasures he has collected over the years.
Prices start from $200 per night for the Studio room however I’d also suggest checking out the Deluxe, Superior and Suite here.

6. CHANDELIER SURF SHACK, MONTAUK (NY), USA
Before you get too excited about staying in this surf shack I must let you know that it is currently only for the exclusive use of Chandelier staff, clients and family – but I couldn’t resist sharing it with you! Mr. Christiansen, an Australian who grew up on a farm near Byron Bay, styled this cedar A-frame built in the 1950s to host the clients of his Manhattan advertising agency. (They even have coloured tee-pees and an outdoor cinema!)

7. BELREPAYRE TRAILER PARK, MANSES, FRANCE
Last but not least… Europe’s only Airstream Trailer Park. I love the community vibe of caravan parks and don’t think a caravan park can get any cooler than this. Open May to September this place has: beautiful surroundings, an Apollo lounge bar which plays “blasts from the past – all on vinyl”, bicycles for hire and a general store for basics and organic products. Perry and Coline were previously circus artists and now live in an airstream which has been their home for the last 25 years.
Prices start at about $150 but if you come with a retro vehicle they’ll give you 10% off your stay. More details here.
